WOW! I have been terribly negligent at connecting through social media and my website lately! I love connecting with people ~ the effort and time to connect electronically is a challenge for me!

Life has been super super busy ~ with my permission! It is a choice to be busy! I plan to slow my pace a bit in July and August.

In June I began teaching Hot Yoga at the Poyner YMCA in downtown Raleigh. It is an incubator Y as we are trying new and different things. Cutting edge classes, location, and stellar teachers have made this an awesome adventure. Try us out at no charge! If you live or work downtown, its a no brainer!

My private class slots are full with the exception of Thursday or Friday  afternoons/early evening. Connect with me if you would like to set up private or group classes for adults or teens. I teach many formats. (Athletes, Restorative, Teens, Books Clubs, Stress and anxiety…)

I am teaching an 8 week restorative yoga class at Pullen Baptist Church in their chapel around a labyrinth. Sacred Space. You do not have to be a member to attend. Class is focused on restorative poses married with breath and meditation. $10.00 a class Tuesday ar 7pm-8:15pm. We will meet this Tuesday, July 3. PM or text me for info ( (919-649-7430)

Interested in deepening your Yoga Practice or becoming a teacher? The Alexander YMCA is offering a 200 Yoga Teacher Training at an inaugural price beginning this September. The program will run 1 weekend a month from September 2018-May 2019. We have top notch teachers posed to lead you through your training with curriculum that will set you on your path forward. Spaces are filling quickly!

Beginning in June, I will be teaching Hot Yoga at the new Poyner Y in Downtown Raleigh! Check it out!


Get ready – our doors open June 20! We’re adding the finishing touches to our Y in anticipation of welcoming our members beginning June 20. We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our newest YMCA in the heart of Downtown Raleigh. We’ll open with great amenities, including the latest wellness equipment and a full schedule of group fitness classes designed to help you reach your full potential.

We’ll launch our group fitness schedule in the coming days so that you can begin make plans to try out some new classes. Be sure to download our Y Mobile App so you can have our schedule right in the palm of your hand.

Beginning June 20, our branch hours will be:
Monday – Friday: 5:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Sunday: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Hip Abductors and Adductors

Hip Abductors and Adductors

The main job of your hip adductors is to move the leg in toward the midline, and hip abductors to move the leg out. But another important role of those muscles is to stabilize your pelvis. Do not ignore your adductors/abductors! In your yoga practice make sure to include the movements that contract and stretch your inner thighs, as well as movements that make your hip abductors both stabilize the pelvis and move the leg out to the side. Be careful to look  for compensation patterns from other muscles!
